WORLD WATER DAY OBSERVANCE

The Eco Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe observed World Water Day on 25th March 2025 at 11:00 AM with the aim of raising awareness about the global water crisis and encouraging students to adopt responsible water conservation practices.
The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the significance of World Water Day. Students were reminded of the critical importance of water as a life-sustaining resource and the need to use it wisely amidst growing concerns of scarcity, pollution, and climate change.
1. Awareness Session
A resource person delivered an insightful presentation covering:

Global and local water scarcity issues

Importance of freshwater conservation

Pollution of water bodies and its impact on ecosystems

Rainwater harvesting and sustainable water management

Everyday practices to reduce water wastage
The session helped students understand both environmental and social implications of water misuse.
2. Poster and Slogan Display
Students prepared vibrant posters and slogans communicating water conservation messages such as:

“Conserve Water, Conserve Life”

“Protect Our Water Bodies”
3. Water Conservation Drive
Students participated in campus-based activities including:

Checking for leaking taps

Reporting water wastage points

Promoting minimal-water usage habits in wash areas

Demonstrating methods to reuse greywater
These practical tasks encouraged students to take action-oriented steps toward conservation.
4. Group Discussion
Participants engaged in an interactive discussion on how communities, schools, and households can reduce water wastage. Several students shared personal strategies and innovative ideas for water-saving methods.
5. Water Conservation Pledge
All participants took a pledge to use water responsibly, avoid wastage, and spread awareness among their families and communities.
The programme concluded with encouraging remarks from the coordinators, who emphasized that water conservation is a shared responsibility and that every small effort contributes to a sustainable future.
The World Water Day Observance was an informative and impactful initiative, demonstrating the Eco Club’s dedication to promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and responsible water usage among students.
