WATER CONSERVATION DAY OBSERVANCE

The Nature Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe observed Water Conservation Day on 10th March 2025 at 2:00 PM with the objective of raising awareness about the importance of conserving water and promoting responsible water usage among students.
The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction highlighting the urgent need for water conservation in the face of increasing scarcity, climate change, and depletion of freshwater resources. Students were encouraged to adopt sustainable habits and become advocates of water conservation in their homes and communities.
A resource person delivered an informative awareness session covering themes such as:

Causes and consequences of water scarcity

Importance of groundwater recharge

Impact of pollution on water bodies

Simple everyday methods to conserve water

Role of youth in promoting water sustainability
To make the observance more engaging, the following activities were organized:
1. Poster and Slogan Display
Students created posters and slogans emphasizing messages such as:

“Every Drop Counts”

“Save Water, Save Life”

“Conserve Today for a Better Tomorrow”
2. Demonstration of Water-Saving Techniques
Participants learned about practical conservation methods like rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation, reusing greywater, and reducing wastage in daily activities.
3. Group Discussion
Students shared ideas and real-life practices they follow at home to conserve water. The discussion helped build awareness on practical approaches that can be implemented at school and community levels.
The event highlighted the significance of collective responsibility in safeguarding water resources for future generations.
The programme concluded with a pledge, where students committed to using water wisely, avoiding wastage, and promoting conservation awareness among peers.
The Water Conservation Day observance was an insightful and impactful initiative, reflecting the Nature Club’s commitment to fostering environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and responsible citizenship among students.
