EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

The Eco Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe celebrated Earth Day on 28th March 2025 at 10:45 AM with the aim of raising awareness about environmental protection, promoting sustainable practices, and encouraging students to take responsibility for safeguarding the planet.

The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the significance of Earth Day and its relevance in today’s world. Students were reminded of the urgent environmental challenges such as pollution, climate change, deforestation, and biodiversity loss, and the need for collective action.

1. Awareness Session

A resource person delivered an informative talk covering:

  • Current environmental issues

  • Importance of conservation of natural resources

  • Simple daily practices for sustainable living

  • Role of youth in environmental protection

This session inspired students to reflect on their ecological footprint and motivated them to adopt greener habits.

2. Plant Care and Campus Greening Activity

Students participated in maintaining the greenery of the campus by:

  • Watering plants and saplings

  • Removing weeds

  • Cleaning garden areas

  • Arranging flowerbeds and adding organic manure

This hands-on activity helped students understand their role in nurturing the environment.

3. Poster and Slogan Display

Students prepared creative posters and slogans communicating strong environmental messages such as:

  • “Save Earth, Save Life”

  • “Every Action Counts”

  • “Plant More Trees for a Greener Future”

  • “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”

These displays helped spread awareness across the campus.

4. Earth Pledge

All participants took a pledge to protect the environment by reducing waste, conserving water and energy, avoiding single-use plastics, and promoting green habits in their daily lives.

5. Interactive Reflection Session

Students shared their thoughts on Earth Day and discussed ways they could individually and collectively contribute to environmental conservation.

The programme concluded with an appreciation note from the coordinators and a reminder that Earth Day should not be limited to a single day but should be a part of everyday living.

The Earth Day Celebration was a meaningful, educational, and inspiring initiative, reflecting the Eco Club’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and responsible citizenship among students.
