 ART THERAPY SESSION

Organized by the Mental Health and Wellbeing Club, MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe
Date: 05 March 2025
Time: 2:30 PM

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Art Therapy session on 5th March 2025 at 2:30 PM with the objective of promoting emotional expression, stress relief, and mental relaxation through creative art activities. The programme was designed to help students explore their emotions in a non-verbal, expressive, and therapeutic manner.

The session began with a brief introduction explaining the concept of art therapy and its importance in enhancing emotional well-being. Students were encouraged to express their thoughts, feelings, and inner experiences through drawing, colouring, and creative artwork. They were guided to focus on the process rather than the outcome, allowing free expression without fear of judgment.

Students actively participated by creating various forms of artwork that reflected their emotions, imagination, hopes, and personal experiences. The atmosphere was calm, relaxed, and supportive, helping students feel comfortable and emotionally connected. The activity helped students release stress, improve concentration, and experience a sense of emotional balance.

Faculty coordinators guided the participants throughout the session and emphasized how creative expression can be a powerful tool for managing anxiety, improving mood, and strengthening self-awareness. The session also promoted mindfulness, patience, and positive emotional engagement.

At the end of the session, students voluntarily shared their artworks and experiences, which helped build confidence and emotional openness among participants. Many students expressed that the activity was deeply relaxing and helped them feel mentally refreshed.

The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to regularly practice creative activities for emotional well-being. The Art Therapy session was a meaningful and successful initiative, reflecting the Mental Health and Wellbeing Club’s commitment to promoting holistic wellness, emotional health, and positive coping strategies among students.
