The De-Addiction Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Role Play Activity on 17th March 2025 at 12:45 PM as part of its efforts to raise awareness about drug abuse and promote preventive attitudes among students through creative expression.

The programme began with a welcome address and an explanation of the purpose of using drama and role play as effective tools for communicating social messages. Students were encouraged to portray realistic situations demonstrating the causes, consequences, and prevention of drug addiction.

Several groups participated, presenting short role plays on themes such as:

  • Peer pressure and initiation into drug use

  • Impact of drug addiction on family and relationships

  • Psychological and physical consequences of substance abuse

  • Importance of guidance, counselling, and early intervention

  • Strength of choosing a healthy and drug-free lifestyle

The performances were powerful, expressive, and emotionally engaging. Participants showcased strong acting skills, teamwork, and creativity while delivering meaningful messages that resonated with the audience.

Faculty coordinators and judges evaluated the role plays based on:

  • Relevance to the theme

  • Clarity and impact of the message

  • Performance quality and teamwork

  • Creativity in presentation

The event encouraged open discussion among students about the seriousness of drug abuse and the importance of supporting peers who may be at risk. It also highlighted the value of awareness programmes in building a responsible and informed student community.

The programme concluded with words of appreciation for the participants and a reminder to continue advocating for a drug-free lifestyle.

The Role Play Activity was a highly effective and impactful programme, reinforcing the De-Addiction Club’s commitment to educating students through interactive and creative methods.
