PI DAY CELEBRATION

The Mathematics Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, celebrated Pi Day on 14 March 2025 at 11:30 AM. The event was organised to highlight the mathematical significance of the constant π (Pi) and to promote enthusiasm for mathematics among student teachers.
The programme began with a welcome address by the club coordinator, who explained the importance of Pi Day, celebrated globally on March 14 (3/14), representing the first three digits of π. The faculty advisor further highlighted the historical development of π and its applications in geometry, science, engineering, and everyday life.
As part of the celebration, a variety of engaging activities were conducted, including a Pi Facts Quiz, Pi Memory Challenge (reciting digits of π), mathematical games, and a poster presentation on the value and applications of π. Students participated enthusiastically, showcasing their creativity and mathematical interest.
A special presentation on the history of π, contributions of great mathematicians, and the role of π in modern technology enriched the participants’ understanding. Interactive discussions and fun mathematical tasks made the event lively and enjoyable.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the principal, faculty members, club coordinators, and students for their active participation. The Pi Day celebration successfully fostered curiosity and appreciation for mathematics, encouraging student teachers to adopt engaging methods in their future classrooms.
