E-WASTE CONNECT PROGRAMME
CONDUCTED BY THE IT CLUB OF MCCTE MAHE

The IT Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized an E-Waste Connect Programme on 10 January 2025 at 11:00 AM in the college campus. The programme aimed to create awareness among student teachers about the growing concerns related to electronic waste and to promote responsible disposal and recycling practices.

The session began with an introductory address by the club coordinators, who highlighted the environmental hazards caused by improper e-waste management. They emphasized the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling electronic materials to ensure a sustainable future.

The resource person conducted an informative session explaining the types of e-waste, their harmful effects on health and the environment, and the need for scientific disposal methods. Students were made aware of the lifecycle of electronic products and encouraged to adopt eco-friendly practices such as responsible consumption, safe disposal, and participation in recycling drives.

As part of the programme, an e-waste collection drive was also initiated on the campus. Students and faculty members contributed by depositing old mobile phones, chargers, damaged electronic accessories, and other unusable devices. The collected items were sorted and prepared for safe disposal through authorized recyclers.

The event concluded with a reflection session where participants discussed the significance of sustainable digital practices. The IT Club coordinators expressed gratitude to the college administration, faculty members, and students for their active support in making the programme a success.

The E-Waste Connect Programme effectively fulfilled its objective of promoting awareness, responsibility, and environmental consciousness among student teachers.
