Date: 28 January 2025
Time: 11:00 AM
The Reading Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Movie Review Session on 28th January 2025 at 11:00 AM with the objective of enhancing critical thinking, analytical skills, and expressive abilities among students through the discussion of a selected film. The programme aimed to help students understand the connection between literature, storytelling, and cinematic interpretation.
The session began with a brief introduction on the purpose of the movie review and its importance in developing observation and interpretation skills. Students were encouraged to focus on various aspects of the film such as theme, plot development, character portrayal, dialogues, cinematography, background score, and overall message.
After watching the selected clips or recalling the previously screened movie, students actively participated in the review discussion. They shared their opinions, analysed character motivations, and discussed the social, emotional, and moral themes presented in the film. Each participant expressed their personal interpretation, which enriched the discussion with diverse viewpoints.
Faculty coordinators guided the students in structuring a proper movie review by explaining elements such as introduction, summary, critical analysis, and personal reflection. Students also learned how to present their views logically and confidently in front of an audience.
The session helped students improve their language skills, confidence in public speaking, and ability to critically evaluate creative works. It also strengthened their appreciation for storytelling across different media.
The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to continue observing, analysing, and expressing their views on books and films. The Movie Review Session was a meaningful and academically enriching initiative, reflecting the Reading Club’s commitment to promoting critical literacy, communication skills, and creative engagement among students.
