The Mental Health and Wellbeing Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Yoga and Meditation Session on 20th January 2025 at 10:30 AM with the objective of promoting physical relaxation, mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall wellness among students. The programme aimed to highlight the importance of mindful living and stress management through yogic practices.
The session began with a brief introduction on the benefits of yoga and meditation in maintaining mental health. A trained instructor guided the students through a series of warm-up exercises followed by basic yoga asanas that focused on flexibility, posture, breathing control, and body relaxation. Special emphasis was placed on slow and mindful movements to enhance focus and body awareness.
Following the asana practice, students were guided into a meditation session that focused on deep breathing, calm awareness, and mental relaxation. The meditation helped participants release stress, improve concentration, and experience a sense of inner peace. The calm environment created during the session helped students feel refreshed, centered, and emotionally balanced.
Students actively participated with dedication and maintained discipline throughout the session. Many expressed that they felt relaxed and rejuvenated after the practice. Faculty coordinators emphasized the importance of making yoga and meditation a part of daily routine to support mental and physical well-being.
The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to continue practising these techniques regularly for a healthy mind and body. The Yoga and Meditation Session was a highly beneficial and refreshing initiative, reflecting the Mental Health and Wellbeing Club’s commitment to promoting holistic wellness, self-care, and positive lifestyle habits among students.
