The Mental Health and Wellbeing Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Taekwondo Session on 29th January 2025 at 3:30 PM with the aim of promoting physical fitness, self-discipline, mental strength, and overall well-being among students. The programme was designed to highlight the strong connection between physical activity and mental health.
The session began with a brief introduction on the importance of martial arts in enhancing both physical and psychological health. A trained instructor guided the students through basic warm-up exercises followed by fundamental Taekwondo techniques such as stance positions, punches, blocks, and simple kicking movements. Emphasis was given on balance, coordination, focus, and controlled movements.
Students actively participated with enthusiasm and concentration, learning how regular physical activity helps reduce stress, improve confidence, and enhance emotional regulation. The session also highlighted core values of Taekwondo such as self-control, respect, perseverance, and mental discipline. Participants experienced a sense of empowerment through structured physical training.
The activity encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones, build resilience, and develop a positive attitude toward personal fitness and safety. Faculty coordinators guided and motivated the students throughout the session, ensuring safety and proper execution of techniques.
The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to continue practising physical fitness as part of mental well-being. The Taekwondo Session was an energetic and beneficial initiative, reflecting the Mental Health and Wellbeing Club’s commitment to promoting holistic health, confidence-building, and positive lifestyle practices among students.
