Organized by the Reading Club, MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe
Date: 17 January 2025
Time: 11:00 AM
The Reading Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Creative Writing activity on 17th January 2025 at 11:30 AM with the objective of nurturing students’ imagination, enhancing written expression, and encouraging originality in thought. The programme aimed to provide students with a platform to explore their creativity through writing and to develop confidence in expressing ideas in their own voice.
The session began with a brief introduction on the importance of creative writing as a means of self-expression and communication. Students were given prompts and themes related to imagination, emotions, social issues, and personal experiences. They were encouraged to write short stories, poems, reflections, or descriptive pieces based on the given themes or their own ideas.
Participants actively engaged in the writing process, expressing their thoughts with creativity, clarity, and originality. Many displayed strong narrative skills, emotional depth, and thoughtful perspectives in their compositions. The activity fostered a calm and focused environment where students could think freely and explore their literary abilities.
After the writing session, selected students voluntarily shared their creations with the group. This sharing segment encouraged confidence, constructive feedback, and appreciation for each other’s work. Faculty coordinators offered encouraging remarks and guidance to help students refine their writing skills.
The programme helped students improve their vocabulary, imagination, critical thinking, and confidence in written expression. It also strengthened their appreciation for literature and artistic communication.
The activity concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who motivated students to continue practising creative writing and participating in reading club activities. The Creative Writing session was a successful and enriching initiative, reflecting the Reading Club’s commitment to promoting literary creativity, expressive skills, and intellectual growth among students.
