Date: 13 January 2025
Time: 10:00 AM

The Reading Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Book Review Session on 13th January 2025 at 10:00 AM with the objective of developing students’ analytical thinking, reading comprehension, and expressive communication skills. The programme aimed to encourage students to critically evaluate literary works and to share their interpretations confidently.

The session began with a brief introduction explaining the importance of book reviews in deepening understanding of literature and improving critical reading habits. Students were encouraged to focus on key aspects such as the theme, plot, character development, writing style, and overall message of the selected books.

Students actively participated by presenting reviews of different books they had read. Each participant shared a summary of the book, analyzed important characters and events, and expressed personal opinions about the relevance and impact of the book. The reviews reflected originality, thoughtful observation, and clear expression.

Faculty coordinators guided the students on how to structure an effective book review by balancing summary, analysis, and personal reflection. Constructive feedback was given to help students improve their presentation and communication skills. The discussion created an engaging and intellectually stimulating atmosphere.

The session helped students enhance their reading habits, vocabulary, confidence in public speaking, and critical thinking skills. It also promoted a deeper appreciation for literature and encouraged students to explore diverse literary genres.

The programme concluded with words of appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to continue reading regularly and to participate actively in future Reading Club activities. The Book Review Session was a meaningful and educational initiative, reflecting the Reading Club’s commitment to fostering a strong reading culture, critical literacy, and academic growth among students.
