READING RELAY

 READING RELAY

Organized by the Reading Club, MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe
Date: 24 January 2025
Time: 3:00 PM

The Reading Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Reading Relay on 24th January 2025 at 3:00 PM with the objective of making reading an engaging, collaborative, and enjoyable activity. The programme aimed to enhance reading fluency, teamwork, listening skills, and confidence among students through an interactive group-based reading format.

The programme began with a brief introduction explaining the concept of a reading relay. Students were divided into teams, and each team member took turns reading aloud from a selected text. The relay format encouraged active participation, careful listening, and smooth transition between readers while maintaining the flow and meaning of the passage.

Participants read with clarity, expression, and confidence, paying attention to pronunciation, pace, and voice modulation. Team members supported each other throughout the activity, which enhanced cooperation and mutual encouragement. The activity created a lively and focused atmosphere, making reading both fun and educational.

Faculty coordinators observed and guided the students, offering suggestions on improving reading fluency and expressive skills. The relay format helped students overcome stage fear, improve public reading abilities, and develop better comprehension through attentive listening.

At the end of the session, students reflected on their experiences and shared how the activity helped improve their confidence and teamwork. The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to continue practising reading aloud and participating in interactive literary activities.

The Reading Relay was a creative and effective initiative, reflecting the Reading Club’s commitment to promoting reading skills, collaboration, and active learning among students.
