The Reading Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Reading Awareness Programme on 27th January 2025 at 9:30 AM with the objective of promoting the importance of reading and encouraging students to develop lifelong reading habits. The programme aimed to highlight the role of reading in improving knowledge, language skills, creativity, and critical thinking.

The programme began with a brief introduction on the value of reading in personal and academic growth. Students were made aware of how regular reading enhances vocabulary, comprehension, concentration, and overall intellectual development. Faculty members spoke about the role of reading in shaping character, improving communication skills, and fostering independent learning.

Students actively participated in the programme by sharing their reading experiences and expressing their views on how reading has influenced their lives. Some students also spoke about their favourite books and authors, inspiring their peers to explore new genres and develop interest in literature.

The awareness session helped students understand the importance of setting aside daily time for reading and choosing meaningful reading materials. It also encouraged them to use library resources effectively and participate actively in reading club activities.

The programme concluded with words of encouragement from the coordinators, who motivated students to make reading a regular habit and to take part in future literary activities. The Reading Awareness Programme was a meaningful and motivating initiative, reflecting the Reading Club’s commitment to promoting a strong reading culture, academic growth, and intellectual curiosity among students.
