ENVIRONMENTAL DAY CELEBRATION

The Science Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe celebrated Environmental Day on 6th January 2025 at 3:30 PM with the aim of promoting environmental awareness, encouraging sustainable practices, and inspiring students to become active contributors to environmental conservation.
The programme began with a welcome address and an introduction to the significance of Environmental Day. Students were reminded of the growing environmental challenges faced globally—such as pollution, climate change, waste mismanagement, and loss of biodiversity—and the urgent need for collective action.
1. Awareness Session
A resource person delivered an insightful talk on:

Human impact on ecosystems

Conservation of natural resources

Sustainable lifestyle practices

Role of youth in maintaining ecological balance
The session motivated students to adopt environmentally responsible habits in their daily lives.
2. Poster and Slogan Exhibition
Students created vibrant posters and slogans related to environmental protection, featuring messages such as:

“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”

“Protect Nature for Future Generations”
These displays helped spread awareness across the campus.
3. Campus Clean-Up Drive
As part of the celebration, students participated in a clean-up activity by:

Segregating waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable groups

Cleaning pathways and green areas
The drive encouraged responsibility and teamwork while contributing to a cleaner learning environment.
4. Environmental Pledge
All participants took a pledge committing to:
