Report

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE) organised the first session of the “Beyond the Blackboard” Faculty Demonstration Series on 28 July 2026 at the College Auditorium. The programme was conceived as an academic initiative to provide faculty members with opportunities to demonstrate innovative, engaging and effective classroom practices beyond conventional blackboard teaching.

The first faculty demonstration focused on the renowned poem “To Sleep” by William Wordsworth and was conducted by Mr. Arun U., Assistant Professor, MCCTE. The session aimed to demonstrate how literary texts can be approached through creative pedagogical strategies, meaningful classroom interaction and learner-centred techniques.

During the demonstration, the poem was explored with emphasis on its theme, imagery, poetic expressions, emotions and philosophical dimensions. The session highlighted ways of making poetry teaching more engaging and accessible to learners by connecting the literary content with students’ experiences and encouraging active participation.

The demonstration also provided an opportunity for faculty members to observe and reflect upon effective teaching practices that could be incorporated into their own classrooms. The programme emphasised that effective teaching extends beyond the traditional boundaries of the blackboard and involves creativity, interaction, contextualisation and learner engagement.

The initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to continuous professional development, pedagogical innovation and quality enhancement in teacher education. The Faculty Demonstration Series is expected to encourage faculty members to share their expertise and classroom practices, thereby creating a collaborative academic environment within the institution.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, organized the twelfth session of its Demonstration Series – "Beyond the Blackboard" on 25 July 2026 at the College Auditorium. The demonstration series was designed to provide prospective teachers with opportunities to observe innovative teaching methodologies and learner-centred classroom practices through model lessons delivered by MCCTE alumni.

The twelfth session featured a demonstration on "Relative Density," presented by Ms. Neha Fathima A. V, an alumna of MCCTE from the 2024–2026 Batch. The programme commenced with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the resource person. Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, served as the General Co-ordinator and highlighted the importance of concept-based, activity-oriented teaching in Physical Science education.

During the demonstration, Ms. Neha Fathima A. V introduced the concept of relative density in a clear and engaging manner by connecting theoretical principles with practical applications. She explained the relationship between density and relative density, the methods of calculating relative density, and its significance in identifying different substances. Through simple experiments, visual aids, and real-life examples, the resource person enabled participants to understand why certain objects float while others sink and how relative density influences these phenomena.

 One-Day National Workshop on "AI Powered Teaching"

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, organized a One-Day National Workshop on "AI Powered Teaching" on 25 July 2026 at 10.00 a.m. in the College Auditorium. The workshop was organized with the objective of equipping prospective teachers with the knowledge and practical skills required to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into teaching-learning processes, thereby enhancing classroom effectiveness, creativity, and student engagement.

The programme commenced with a formal inaugural session under the guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, who served as the General Co-ordinator. In her inaugural address, she highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence in education and emphasized the need for future teachers to embrace technological innovations to create dynamic, inclusive, and personalized learning environments.

The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Sajan K. S, Assistant Professor, NSS Training College, Ottappalam. He is a member of the ITEP Curriculum Committee, Kerala Higher Education Council, the Ethics Committee, SCERT, the Board of Studies in Education, University of Calicut, and serves as the Executive Member of CTEF, Kerala Chapter. Drawing upon his expertise in teacher education and educational technology, Dr. Sajan provided an insightful overview of the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in modern classrooms.

The workshop covered a wide range of topics, including the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, AI-powered teaching tools, intelligent lesson planning, AI-assisted content creation, personalized learning, automated assessment, and ethical considerations in the use of AI in education. Through live demonstrations and practical examples, the resource person introduced participants to various AI applications that support lesson preparation, presentation design, question paper generation, formative assessment, feedback mechanisms, and classroom management.

A hands-on session formed a major component of the workshop, enabling participants to explore AI-based educational platforms and digital tools relevant to teaching and learning. Participants actively engaged in creating instructional materials, generating classroom activities, and designing assessments using AI technologies. The resource person also discussed the responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing the importance of maintaining academic integrity, data privacy, and critical human oversight while using AI-enabled educational resources.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, organized the fourteenth session of its Demonstration Series – "Beyond the Blackboard" on 24 July 2026 at the College Auditorium. The demonstration series was initiated to provide prospective teachers with opportunities to observe innovative classroom practices and develop their pedagogical competencies through model teaching sessions presented by MCCTE alumni.

The fourteenth session featured a demonstration on "Directions," presented by Mr. Abhiram Murali K, an alumnus of MCCTE from the 2024–2026 Batch. The programme commenced with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the resource person. Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, served as the General Co-ordinator and emphasized the importance of activity-based and learner-centred approaches in teaching Social Science and Environmental Studies.

During the demonstration, Mr. Abhiram Murali K introduced the concept of cardinal and intermediate directions through an engaging and interactive teaching approach. He explained the use of the four cardinal directions—North, South, East, and West—as well as the intermediate directions, and demonstrated their practical applications in map reading, navigation, and everyday life. The thirteenth session featured a demonstration on "Oscillations & Vibrations," presented by Mr. Abhinraj P. P, an alumnus of MCCTE from the 2024–2026 Batch. The programme commenced with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the resource person. The workshop was conducted with the objective of equipping prospective teachers with innovative skills for designing effective and engaging educational resources that enhance classroom learning and promote cognitive development.

The programme commenced with a welcome address, followed by the inaugural session under the guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, who served as the General Co-ordinator. In her inaugural address, she highlighted the significance of creative instructional materials in fostering active learning and improving student engagement in the classroom.

The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Muralidharan Mavila, Teacher Educator and RP, DIET Faculty Development Centre, SCERT, Kerala.
