One-Day National Workshop on "Cognitive Crafts: Crafting Educational Resources"
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, organized a One-Day National Workshop on "Cognitive Crafts: Crafting Educational Resources" on 24 July 2026 at 10.00 a.m. in the College Auditorium. The workshop was conducted with the objective of equipping prospective teachers with innovative skills for designing effective and engaging educational resources that enhance classroom learning and promote cognitive development.
The programme commenced with a welcome address, followed by the inaugural session under the guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, who served as the General Co-ordinator. In her inaugural address, she highlighted the significance of creative instructional materials in fostering active learning and improving student engagement in the classroom.
The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Muralidharan Mavila, Teacher Educator and RP, DIET Faculty Development Centre, SCERT, Kerala. Drawing upon his extensive experience in teacher education, he introduced participants to a wide range of innovative educational resources and demonstrated practical techniques for designing low-cost, learner-centred teaching aids. He emphasized that educational resources should not merely support instruction but should also stimulate learners' thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
The workshop included interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities where participants designed various instructional materials suitable for different school subjects and learning levels. The resource person provided valuable guidance on selecting appropriate materials, integrating educational resources into classroom transactions, and ensuring that the resources effectively address diverse learning needs. The practical sessions enabled participants to collaborate, exchange ideas, and develop confidence in creating attractive and meaningful teaching-learning materials.
The participants actively engaged throughout the workshop, displaying enthusiasm and creativity during the hands-on sessions. Their interaction with the resource person enriched the learning experience and inspired them to adopt innovative practices in their future teaching careers.
The programme concluded with a feedback session in which participants expressed their appreciation for the practical orientation and relevance of the workshop. The workshop proved to be highly beneficial in strengthening the professional competencies of prospective teachers by enhancing their creativity, pedagogical skills, and ability to develop effective educational resources.
The programme was successfully coordinated by Mr. Arun U, Assistant Professor and IQAC Co-ordinator, under the overall leadership of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the successful completion of an enriching academic programme.
