The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, organized the thirteenth session of its Demonstration Series – "Beyond the Blackboard" on 24 July 2026 at the College Auditorium. The demonstration series was conducted to familiarize prospective teachers with innovative teaching methodologies and learner-centred classroom practices through demonstration lessons delivered by MCCTE alumni.

The thirteenth session featured a demonstration on "Oscillations & Vibrations," presented by Mr. Abhinraj P. P, an alumnus of MCCTE from the 2024–2026 Batch. The programme commenced with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the resource person. Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, served as the General Co-ordinator and emphasized the importance of activity-based and concept-oriented teaching in Physical Science education.

During the demonstration, Mr. Abhinraj P. P explained the fundamental concepts of oscillations and vibrations using an interactive and inquiry-based teaching approach. He clearly differentiated between oscillatory and vibratory motion, illustrating the concepts with familiar examples such as pendulums, springs, tuning forks, and vibrating strings. The session also highlighted key concepts including amplitude, time period, frequency, and simple harmonic motion, enabling participants to develop a strong conceptual understanding through practical illustrations.

The resource person effectively incorporated multimedia presentations, demonstrations, models, questioning techniques, and collaborative classroom activities to make the lesson engaging and learner-centred. The demonstration showcased how abstract concepts in physics could be simplified through hands-on activities, real-life applications, and effective teaching-learning materials. Participants also observed well-structured lesson planning, effective classroom communication, learner engagement strategies, and formative assessment techniques.

Following the demonstration, an interactive discussion and feedback session was conducted, during which participants reflected on the pedagogical methods employed and explored ways of adapting similar innovative instructional strategies in their future classrooms. The resource person addressed participants' questions and shared valuable insights into making physics teaching more experiential, interactive, and concept-driven.

The participants appreciated the clarity of explanation, creative instructional methods, and practical orientation of the demonstration. The session significantly contributed to strengthening the pedagogical competencies of prospective teachers by exposing them to effective learner-centred teaching practices in science education.

The programme was coordinated by Mr. Arun U, Assistant Professor and IQAC Co-ordinator, under the overall leadership of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE. The thirteenth session of the "Beyond the Blackboard" demonstration series successfully reinforced the importance of innovative pedagogy, experiential learning, and active student participation in teaching Physical Science, inspiring future educators to adopt engaging and concept-oriented classroom practices.
