Demonstration Series – "Beyond the Blackboard" (Session 1)-"Pythagoras Theorem: Connecting Sides and Squares."
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, organized the first session of its demonstration series titled "Beyond the Blackboard" on 20 July 2026 at the College Auditorium. The initiative was launched to provide student teachers with opportunities to demonstrate innovative teaching practices, strengthen pedagogical competencies, and promote experiential learning.
The inaugural session featured Ms. Anjana O. K., alumna of the B.Ed. Batch 2024–2026, who delivered a demonstration class on the topic "Pythagoras Theorem: Connecting Sides and Squares." The session showcased effective teaching strategies that combined conceptual understanding with interactive learning activities. Through visual aids, real-life applications, and learner-centred methods, the presenter successfully explained the relationship between the sides of a right-angled triangle, making the mathematical concept engaging and easy to understand.
The demonstration highlighted the importance of integrating innovative pedagogical approaches, activity-based learning, and classroom interaction to enhance students' mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Faculty members and student teachers actively participated in the session, followed by a constructive discussion on teaching techniques, classroom management, and the effective use of instructional resources.
The programme was conducted under the general guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K., Principal, MCCTE, and coordinated by Mr. Arun U., IQAC Co-ordinator and Assistant Professor, MCCTE. The session received positive feedback from the participants and marked a successful beginning to the "Beyond the Blackboard" demonstration series, reaffirming the institution's commitment to promoting excellence in teacher education through innovative and reflective teaching practices.
