B.Ed. ORIENTATION PROGRAMME – SESSION 11
College Magazine, Community Camp & Tour
The IQAC of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE), Mahe, organized the 11th Session of the B.Ed. Orientation Programme on 14 August 2026 at the College Auditorium. The session focused on the theme “College Magazine, Community Camp & Tour.”
The session was intended to familiarize the student teachers with the various co-curricular and extension activities that contribute to their overall development as prospective teachers. The importance of active participation in institutional activities, community engagement, creative expression, and educational tours was discussed during the session.
Mr. Sijindas G. S., Assistant Professor, MCCTE, served as the Resource Person. He introduced the students to the purpose and significance of the college magazine as a platform for students to express their creativity, ideas, experiences, and academic interests. The session highlighted the role of student participation in collecting content, preparing articles, contributing creative works, and supporting the publication process.
The discussion also focused on the importance of community camps in teacher education. The Resource Person explained how community-based activities help student teachers understand social realities, interact with different sections of society, develop social responsibility, and apply their knowledge in meaningful contexts. The role of teamwork, leadership, cooperation, and community participation was emphasized.
The significance of educational tours was also discussed. Students were encouraged to view tours as opportunities for experiential learning, observation, interaction, cultural understanding, and professional development. The session highlighted how such activities can broaden students' perspectives beyond the classroom and contribute to their personal and social growth.
The session encouraged students to actively participate in college magazine activities, community-oriented programmes, camps, and educational tours. It helped them understand that teacher education extends beyond classroom learning and includes opportunities for creativity, social engagement, collaboration, leadership, and experiential learning.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K., Principal, MCCTE, General Co-ordinator, with Mr. Arun U., Assistant Professor, MCCTE and IQAC Co-ordinator, coordinating the programme.
The session concluded with the student teachers gaining a better understanding of the value of co-curricular, community-based, and experiential activities in their professional preparation as future teachers.
