An awareness programme on Menstrual Hygiene was organised by MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe (MCCTE) in association with GHSS Kallachi, under the initiative of IQAC, on 17th October 2025 at 3:30 p.m.
The session aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of maintaining menstrual hygiene and to dispel common myths and misconceptions related to menstruation. The resource person for the programme was Ms. Shilna T. V, a second-year B.Ed. student of MCCTE, Mahe.
Ms. Shilna led an interactive and informative session highlighting key aspects such as the biological process of menstruation, the significance of hygiene practices, and the importance of using clean and safe sanitary materials. She also discussed the psychological and social aspects associated with menstruation and encouraged the participants to approach the topic with confidence and openness.
The programme witnessed active participation from students, who engaged in discussions and clarified their doubts. Visual aids and real-life examples were used to make the session more relatable and engaging.
The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Sreelatha K (Principal, MCCTE, Mahe) as the General Co-ordinator, Mrs. Revathy (Assistant Professor, MCCTE, Mahe) as the IQAC Co-ordinator, and Mrs. Sujithra (Headmistress, GHSS Kallachi) as the Programme Co-ordinator.
The session concluded with positive feedback from the participants, who appreciated the initiative for promoting awareness and openness about menstrual health and hygiene.
Overall, the programme proved to be highly informative, empowering, and effective in spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene among the students.
