EARTHQUAKE AWARENESS SESSION

The MAHE Co-Operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, in association with Chothavoor H S S, Champad, organized a session on  Earth quake on October 24 at 10.30am. The resource person for the event was Arunima S , a 2nd year B.Ed. The main objective of this lesson was to make students understand the causes, effects, and safety measures related to earthquakes.

During the session, she explained the scientific reasons behind the occurrence of earthquakes, including tectonic plate movements and seismic waves. Real-life examples of major earthquakes were discussed to help students relate the concept to real-world events.

To make the class more interesting and engaging, she used visual aids and a short video demonstration showing how earthquakes occur and their impact on the environment. A simple classroom activity was also conducted, where students were asked to prepare a chart on “Dos and Don’ts During an Earthquake.”

Students actively participated throughout the session and shared their own ideas on how to stay safe during such natural disasters. The class helped them gain practical knowledge and develop awareness about disaster management and safety precautions.

Overall, the session was highly informative and effective. It not only enhanced the students’ understanding of natural phenomena but also encouraged them to be responsible and prepared citizens during emergencies.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Sreelatha K (Principal, MCCTE), Ms. Revathy M (IQAC Coordinator, MCCTE), and Jayarajan ( Head Master, Chothavoor H S S).
