"Mahe: Echoes of Heritage"
The Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE), Mahe, through its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized a collaborative program titled "Mahe: Echoes of Heritage – Teaching about local history and landmarks" on October 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Govt. Middle School (GMS), Mahe. This initiative, undertaken in association with GMS, aimed to equip prospective teachers with the necessary skills to integrate local history and cultural landmarks into the teaching-learning process, thereby fostering a deeper appreciation for heritage among students. The program commenced with a formal gathering attended by faculty and students from both MCCTE and GMS, and was steered by the event's co-ordinators: Dr. Sreelatha K (Principal, MCCTE, and General Co-ordinator), Ms. Revathy M (Asst. Prof., MCCTE, and IQAC Co-ordinator), and Mr. Ajith Prasad (HM, GMS, and Programme Co-ordinator).
The core of the event was an insightful session led by Ms. Anjana OK, a second-year B.Ed student from MCCTE, who served as the Resource Person. Ms. Anjana delivered a highly engaging and informative presentation that focused on the historical significance of various landmarks in Mahe, simultaneously demonstrating innovative and practical methodologies for integrating this local context into the school curriculum. Her session emphasized the use of storytelling, project-based activities, and localized field trips as effective tools to make learning more relevant and contextual for students. The program successfully met its objective by providing the future educators with valuable, actionable knowledge on promoting cultural literacy and community engagement within the classroom. The successful collaboration between MCCTE and GMS ensured wide participation and an enriching experience, concluding the event with the expectation that these skills will be implemented in future teaching practice.
