Kallachi: An awareness session on earthquake preparedness was successfully conducted at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kallachi on 24th October 2025 at 3:30 PM. The session was organized by the IQAC of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, in association with GHSS Kallachi. The session aimed to educate students about the causes of earthquakes, their effects, and essential safety measures to be taken before, during, and after an earthquake. It was designed to instill awareness, preparedness, and quick response among students in case of such natural disasters. The resource person for the session was Mrs. Hafsath E.K, a second-year B.Ed. student from MCCTE, Mahe. Through an engaging and informative presentation, she explained the scientific background of earthquakes and demonstrated safety techniques like "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" using real-life examples and visual aids. The session was interactive, and students actively participated by asking questions and sharing thoughts. The General Coordinator of the program was Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, Mahe. The program was effectively organized under the leadership of the IQAC Coordinator, Mrs. Revathy, Assistant Professor, MCCTE, Mahe. The support and coordination of Mrs. Suchithra, Headmistress of GHSS Kallachi, as the Programme Coordinator, ensured the smooth execution of the event. The session was informative and impactful, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to act responsibly in the event of an earthquake. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and positive feedback from participants and staff.
