World Standards Day is celebrated annually on October 14 ᵗʰ. It was established in 1970 to pay tribute to the efforts of thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards to facilitate trade, industry, healthcare, safety, and consumer protection.
The day commemorates the meeting of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in London in 1946, where delegates from 25 countries gathered to create a global standards organization.
The World Standard Day program was organized by the Mathematics department on 17ᵗʰ October 2024 and led by Sreenandha P. K.
Sreenandha conducted a discussion on the topic standards to facilitate trade, industry, healthcare, safety and consumer protection. All students participated in the discussion.
The discussion highlights the awareness of standards’ importance, promoting international cooperation, encouraging worldwide adoption of standards and recognizing contribution of experts. The discussion concluded by sharing the theme for WORLD STANDARDS DAY 2024 —
“Shared Vision for a Better World: Standards for the Changing Climate”
