The English Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Role Play Activity on 05 October 2024 at 3:00 PM with the objective of enhancing students’ communication skills, creativity, and language fluency through experiential learning. The programme aimed to provide an interactive platform for students to practise spoken English in real-life scenarios.
The event began with a welcome address by the English Club coordinator, who highlighted the importance of role play as an effective language-learning technique. Students were introduced to the activity format, themes, and guidelines before the performances began.
Participants formed small groups and enacted various situations such as classroom interactions, social conversations, professional settings, and everyday life scenarios. Each group demonstrated spontaneity, confidence, and creativity in presenting their characters and dialogues. The activity enabled students to apply vocabulary, expressions, and conversational skills in a natural and engaging manner.
Faculty members and peers appreciated the participants for their enthusiastic involvement and expressive performances. The interactive nature of the activity promoted teamwork, imagination, and improved language proficiency.
The event concluded with feedback and reflective comments from faculty members, who acknowledged the English Club for organising an enjoyable and educational programme. Students expressed that the role play significantly boosted their confidence in speaking English and helped them overcome stage fear.
Overall, the Role Play Activity was a successful, enriching, and skill-building event that supported students in developing effective communication and linguistic competence.
