STUDENTS UNION ELECTION DAY PROGRAM

 Students Union Election Day Program at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education

The Students Union Election Day at MCCTE was successfully held on 17/10/2024 with the primary goal of democratically electing the members of the student union for the academic year 2024-25. The entire event was organized by the Election Committee, led by the Election Officer, Sir A. P. Surendran, in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the university. The aim of this election was to provide students with a platform for active participation in leadership roles, and to ensure transparency, fairness, and inclusivity throughout the process. The primary aim was to elect representatives for various student council positions, ensuring the democratic involvement of the student body in leadership decisions

The preparations for the election had been in progress for weeks, with candidates campaigning actively to gain support, the election campaign was for 29 seats including main posts like Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Joint Secretary, General Captain, Fine Arts Secretary, Magazine Editor and so on.

The polling stations were opened at 12:00 PM and were set up in multiple key locations across the campus to facilitate smooth voting. The election followed a secret ballot system, with students required to present valid identification before receiving their ballot papers. The Election Committee ensured that all necessary arrangements were made to accommodate students. The polling stations were managed by faculty members and student volunteers who maintained order and guided students through the voting process.

The polling concluded at 2:00 PM, following which all ballot boxes were sealed and securely transported to a designated counting room. The counting of votes began at 2:30 PM, under the strict supervision of the Election Officer and the presence of representatives from each candidate's team to maintain transparency. At around 4:30 PM, the results were officially announced by the Principal De. Sreelatha. K, where C. Nandana was declared the Chairman, Maya Kunnoth as the Vice-Chairman, Vyas Jagadeesh as the General Secretary, Ashima Kokkadan as the Joint secretary, Sangeerth M as the General Captain, Athira CV as the Fine Arts Secretary, and Hariprasad M. as the Magazine Editor.

The Student Union Election successfully achieved its objective of promoting democratic participation and leadership among students. It provided a platform for students to actively engage in decision-making, express their opinions, and elect representatives who reflect their aspirations. The election process not only instilled a sense of responsibility and accountability in the newly elected council members but also fostered a spirit of unity and collaboration within the student body. Overall, it enhanced leadership skills, encouraged transparency, and strengthened the institution's commitment towards inclusive and participatory governance.
