Anaesthesia Day is celebrated on October 16th every year. It commemorates the first successful demonstration of ether anaesthesia by William T.G.Morton on October 16,1846, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Its objectives are;
1. Raising awareness about anaesthesia and its importance in healthcare.
2. Recognizing the contributions of anaesthesiologists and healthcare professionals.
3. Promoting safe and accessible anaesthesia care globally.
The World Anaesthesia Day program was organized by the Mathematics department and led by Theertha Prabhakaran. During this event, Theertha delivered a speech highlighted the importance of celebrating this day. She conveyed the theme and also mentioned the historical significance of the day.
