The Social Science Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe organized an Anti-Drug Campaign on 18th October 2024 at 10:00 AM with the aim of raising awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging students to commit to a drug-free lifestyle. The campaign sought to educate students on the physical, psychological, and social consequences of substance abuse, while promoting healthy and responsible behaviour.
The programme began with an introductory talk highlighting the increasing prevalence of drug misuse among youth and the urgent need for preventive measures. A resource person addressed the gathering and explained the dangers of drug addiction, the influence of peer pressure, and the long-term impact on family and society. Students were urged to stay vigilant, make informed choices, and support peers who may be vulnerable.
As part of the campaign, students participated in activities such as slogan writing, awareness posters, and short presentations emphasizing the message “Say No to Drugs.” A brief skit was also performed, illustrating the emotional and social consequences of addiction and the importance of seeking help. These activities created a strong visual and emotional impact, helping convey the seriousness of the issue.
The campaign received active participation from students, who engaged in discussions about preventive strategies, rehabilitation, and the role of educational institutions in promoting a drug-free environment. Faculty members encouraged students to remain responsible citizens and ambassadors of anti-drug awareness in their communities.
The programme concluded with a pledge taken by all participants to stay away from drugs and to spread awareness about their harmful effects. The Anti-Drug Campaign was a meaningful and impactful initiative, reflecting the Social Science Club’s commitment to promoting health, safety, and social responsibility among students.
