Teaching About Local History and Landmarks
An informative awareness session titled “Teaching About Local History and Landmark” was organised by the IQAC of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, in association with KGGHS Palloor. The programme aimed to enrich student-teachers with the importance of incorporating local heritage and historical landmarks into classroom teaching.
The session was scheduled on 11th October 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The resource person for the programme was Ms. Ananya Prakash, a 2nd Year B.Ed student of MCCTE, Mahe, who actively shared her insights and research on how local history can be used as an effective pedagogical tool to make learning more meaningful and relatable for students.
During the session, Ms. Ananya Prakash highlighted the role of teachers in preserving cultural identity by integrating local historical events, places, and monuments into lessons. She emphasized that when students learn about their surroundings, it strengthens their connection to their community and fosters a sense of pride and belonging.
