AWARENESS CLASS ON MENSTRUAL HYGIENE-ATHIRA SUNIL

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, in association with GVHSS Koduvally, organized an Awareness Class on Menstrual Hygiene on 14th October 2025 at 11:30 AM.

The session aimed to create awareness among students regarding the importance of menstrual hygiene and to break the stigma associated with menstruation. The awareness class was conducted at GVHSS Koduvally. The resource person for the session was Ms. Athira Sunil P, a second-year B.Ed student of MCCTE, Mahe. She effectively led the session by discussing various aspects of menstrual health, hygiene practices, and the importance of open conversations on menstruation. The talk emphasized that menstruation is a natural biological process and should not be treated as a taboo subject.

The event was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE (General Co-ordinator). The IQAC co-ordinator was Ms. Revathy M, Assistant Professor, MCCTE, and the programme co-ordinator was Ms. Smitha, Teacher, GVHSS Koduvally.

The slogan of the event, “Let’s Talk Periods, No More Shame,” perfectly captured the essence of the programme — promoting awareness, confidence, and dignity among young girls.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion where participants cleared their doubts and shared their experiences. Overall, the programme was highly informative and successful in sensitizing the students towards menstrual health and hygiene
