CLASSICAL MUSIC QUIZ COMPETITION

The Music Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Classical Music Quiz Competition on 28th February 2025 at 11:30 AM with the objective of promoting awareness and appreciation of Indian classical music among students. The programme aimed to enhance students’ knowledge of classical ragas, composers, instruments, and musical heritage while encouraging healthy academic competition.
The event began with a brief introduction highlighting the rich tradition of classical music in India and its importance as a cultural and artistic treasure. Students were divided into teams and participated enthusiastically as the quiz progressed through multiple rounds, including identification of ragas, classical instrument recognition, notable composers, talas, and famous performances in both Hindustani and Carnatic traditions.
Participants actively engaged in the competition, demonstrating their understanding of classical music concepts and quick recall abilities. The quiz created an enjoyable and intellectually stimulating environment, with close competition among teams. The audience also showed great interest, learning and appreciating classical music elements through the responses of the participants.
The judging panel ensured fair evaluation and appreciated the students for their enthusiasm and preparation. The competition helped students deepen their musical knowledge, develop listening skills, and strengthen their appreciation for classical art forms.
The programme concluded with acknowledgment of the winning team and appreciation for all participants. Coordinators encouraged students to continue exploring classical music and to cultivate an appreciation for India’s cultural heritage. The Classical Music Quiz Competition was a successful and enriching initiative, reflecting the Music Club’s commitment to promoting musical literacy, cultural awareness, and student engagement.
