GUITAR DAY CELEBRATION

The Music Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe celebrated Guitar Day on 11th February 2025 at 3:00 PM with the objective of promoting interest in instrumental music and appreciating the artistic versatility of the guitar. The programme aimed to introduce students to different styles of guitar playing and to inspire them to explore instrumental music as a form of creative expression.
The event began with a brief introduction on the history of the guitar, its evolution across cultures, and its significance in various musical genres including classical, folk, jazz, and contemporary styles. Faculty members highlighted the guitar’s role as a globally influential instrument known for its expressive capabilities and melodic richness.
Students performed a variety of pieces showcasing fingerstyle techniques, melodic compositions, chord progressions, and rhythmic strumming patterns. The performances included classical arrangements, soft instrumental pieces, and popular tunes, each reflecting the performers’ skill, practice, and musical creativity. The event provided an enjoyable atmosphere, allowing the audience to appreciate the soothing and dynamic qualities of guitar music.
A demonstration segment was included where guitar basics, tuning techniques, chord formation, and posture were explained to interested students. This interactive component enabled beginners to gain foundational understanding and encouraged them to develop instrumental confidence.
