EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

The Nature Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe celebrated Earth Day on 28th February 2025 at 3:00 PM with the objective of raising environmental awareness, promoting sustainable practices, and encouraging students to take responsibility for protecting the planet.
The programme began with a welcome address, followed by a brief introduction on the significance of Earth Day and the need for collective action to address environmental challenges such as pollution, climate change, deforestation, and biodiversity loss.
The event included a series of engaging and educational activities, such as:
1. Awareness Session
A resource person spoke about the importance of conserving natural resources, reducing carbon footprint, and adopting eco-friendly habits in daily life. Students learned about global environmental issues and local solutions.
2. Earth Pledge
Participants took an oath to protect the environment by reducing waste, conserving water and energy, planting trees, and encouraging sustainable living.
3. Poster Display & Slogan Sharing
Students showcased creative posters and slogans highlighting themes such as:

4. Campus Clean-Up Drive
Students actively participated in cleaning the campus surroundings, removing litter, and segregating waste to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
5. Plant Care Activity
Participants watered plants, removed weeds, and learned about the importance of maintaining green spaces within the institution.
The event created a strong sense of environmental responsibility among students and provided a platform for them to express their commitment to sustainability.
The programme concluded with a message from the coordinators emphasizing that Earth Day should not be celebrated only once a year, but every day through small actions that contribute to environmental protection.
The Earth Day Celebration was a meaningful and impactful initiative, reflecting the Nature Club’s dedication to nurturing eco-consciousness, responsibility, and active environmental stewardship among students.
