The Reading Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted Literacy Games on 3rd February 2025 at 9:30 AM with the objective of strengthening students’ language skills, improving vocabulary, enhancing comprehension, and making learning fun and interactive. The programme aimed to promote reading, writing, and thinking abilities through engaging and enjoyable activities.
The programme began with a brief introduction explaining the importance of literacy in academic and personal development. Students actively participated in various literacy-based games such as word puzzles, spelling challenges, vocabulary building activities, sentence formation, rapid reading tasks, and quiz-based language games. These activities were designed to improve cognitive skills, quick thinking, and language confidence.
Participants showed great enthusiasm and teamwork while playing the games. The activities encouraged healthy competition, cooperation, and active involvement. Students demonstrated creativity, sharp thinking, and good command over language while performing the tasks. The fun-filled atmosphere helped reduce fear of mistakes and promoted confident learning.
Faculty coordinators observed the activities and guided the students throughout the session. They appreciated the participants for their active involvement and emphasized how such games enhance learning in an enjoyable manner. Students shared that the programme helped improve their vocabulary, communication skills, and interest in language-related activities.
The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to continue participating in such creative literacy programmes. The Literacy Games activity was a lively and meaningful initiative, reflecting the Reading Club’s commitment to promoting language proficiency, active learning, and joyful reading culture among students.
