The Tour Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Food Trail on 6th February 2025 at 5:00 PM with the objective of familiarizing students with local cuisine, food culture, and culinary traditions while promoting experiential learning beyond the classroom. The programme aimed to help students explore the cultural significance of food and understand its connection with heritage and community life.

The programme began with a brief orientation on the purpose of the food trail and the importance of traditional food in reflecting the identity of a region. Students visited selected local food spots and were introduced to a variety of authentic dishes representing the unique flavours and culinary practices of Mahe. They observed food preparation methods, ingredients used, and presentation styles.

Students actively interacted with food vendors, gaining firsthand knowledge about cooking techniques, hygiene practices, and the history behind certain traditional dishes. The tasting session allowed students to experience diverse flavours and appreciate the richness of local cuisine. The activity created a lively and joyful atmosphere filled with curiosity, learning, and cultural exchange.

The Food Trail also encouraged social bonding, observation skills, and respect for regional food traditions. Students shared their experiences, compared tastes, and expressed enthusiasm about learning through direct exposure. Faculty coordinators guided the students throughout the programme and ensured discipline and safety.

The programme concluded with reflections from students, who expressed that the activity was informative, enjoyable, and culturally enriching. The coordinators appreciated the active participation of students and encouraged them to explore more such experiential learning opportunities.

The Food Trail was a successful and meaningful initiative, reflecting the Tour Club’s commitment to promoting cultural awareness, practical learning, and student engagement through real-world experiences.
