The Nature Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Nature Walk on 24th February 2025 at 9:30 AM with the aim of promoting environmental awareness, encouraging outdoor learning, and fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world among students.

The programme began with a brief introduction about the purpose of the nature walk and the importance of connecting with nature in maintaining physical and mental well-being. Participants were reminded to observe silently, respect natural habitats, and document interesting findings during the walk.

Under the guidance of faculty coordinators, students explored the college surroundings and nearby natural trails. During the walk, participants observed various elements of the environment such as:

  • Local plants, trees, and wildflowers

  • Birds and insects

  • Soil types, leaf patterns, and natural textures

  • Environmental sounds and ecological interactions

The walk encouraged students to use their senses more attentively—listening to bird calls, identifying plant species, and noticing small but significant details in the ecosystem. Students also took notes and photographs to record their observations.

The activity emphasized key themes such as:

  • Importance of biodiversity

  • Role of green spaces in ecological balance

  • Conservation of natural resources

  • Benefits of spending time in nature for relaxation and mindfulness

Participants engaged enthusiastically, asking questions and discussing various ecological concepts during the walk. The experience helped strengthen their environmental knowledge and sparked curiosity about local flora and fauna.

The programme concluded with a reflection session where students shared their observations and expressed their thoughts on the importance of protecting natural habitats.

The Nature Walk was a refreshing, educational, and enriching initiative, showcasing the Nature Club’s dedication to nurturing environmental responsibility, curiosity, and a sense of connection to nature among students.
