NATURE JOURNALING ACTIVITY

The Nature Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Nature Journaling Activity on 20th February 2025 at 3:00 PM with the objective of helping students develop observational skills, deepen their connection with nature, and express their experiences creatively through writing and sketching.
The programme began with a brief introduction to nature journaling, explaining it as a mindful practice that combines scientific observation with personal reflection. Students were encouraged to engage with their surroundings by noticing sights, sounds, textures, movements, and patterns found in nature.
Participants then moved around the campus and nearby natural areas to observe plants, insects, birds, landscapes, and other natural elements. They documented their observations through:

Notes on bird behaviour, insects, and seasonal changes

Descriptions of environmental sounds and sensory experiences

Reflections on the beauty and importance of nature
Faculty coordinators guided students on how to make detailed, accurate, and expressive journal entries. The activity encouraged students to slow down, observe mindfully, and appreciate the small yet meaningful details of the natural world.
