READING CHALLENGE

The Reading Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Reading Challenge on 14th February 2025 at 3:30 PM with the objective of motivating students to develop consistent reading habits, enhance concentration, and cultivate a love for books. The programme aimed to encourage students to explore diverse genres and strengthen their reading skills through a fun and goal-oriented activity.
The programme began with a brief introduction explaining the purpose and structure of the reading challenge. Students were encouraged to set personal reading goals and complete a selected number of pages or books within a stipulated time. The challenge included a variety of reading materials such as novels, short stories, biographies, motivational books, and academic texts, allowing students to choose according to their interests.
Students participated enthusiastically and remained deeply focused during the challenge period. The quiet and disciplined reading environment helped participants improve their concentration and reading speed. Many students shared that the activity helped them rediscover the joy of uninterrupted reading and improved their interest in books.
After the reading session, students shared their experiences, briefly spoke about the content they read, and reflected on what they learned. The interaction created an encouraging atmosphere and strengthened peer motivation. Faculty coordinators appreciated the students’ dedication and emphasized the importance of making reading a daily habit.
The programme concluded with words of encouragement from the coordinators, who motivated students to continue challenging themselves as readers and explore new books regularly. The Reading Challenge was a meaningful and motivating initiative, reflecting the Reading Club’s commitment to promoting reading culture, self-discipline, and lifelong learning among students.
