Date: 17 February 2025
Time: 10:00 AM
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Mental Health Awareness Programme on 17th February 2025 at 10:00 AM with the aim of educating students about the importance of mental well-being, breaking stigma associated with psychological issues, and promoting healthy coping strategies for academic and personal challenges.
The programme began with a brief introduction on the significance of mental health in students’ lives, emphasizing that emotional well-being is as important as physical health. Students were made aware of common mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, and emotional burnout, which are often experienced during academic life. The session highlighted the importance of early recognition and timely support.
Faculty members and resource persons addressed the gathering, explaining practical techniques for managing stress, such as mindfulness, deep breathing, positive thinking, time management, and healthy social interaction. Students were encouraged to express their emotions openly and to seek help when needed without fear of judgment.
Interactive discussions enabled students to share their thoughts, concerns, and experiences related to mental health. The open atmosphere helped normalize conversations around emotional well-being and built a strong sense of empathy and mutual support among participants.
Students were also informed about the support systems available within the institution, such as counselling services, guidance from faculty, and peer support networks. The importance of self-care practices, balanced routines, and maintaining healthy relationships was emphasized throughout the session.
The programme concluded with encouragement from the coordinators, who urged students to prioritize their mental health and to support each other in times of emotional difficulty. The Mental Health Awareness Programme was a meaningful and impactful initiative, reflecting the Mental Health and Wellbeing Club’s commitment to promoting emotional wellness, awareness, and a supportive campus culture.
