ROLE PLAY ACTIVITY
Organized by the Reading Club, MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe
Date: 19 February 2025
Time: 11:00 AM

The Reading Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Role Play activity on 19th February 2025 at 11:00 AM with the objective of enhancing students’ comprehension skills, creative expression, communication abilities, and understanding of literary characters. The programme aimed to help students experience literature in an interactive and expressive manner.

The programme began with a brief introduction explaining the importance of role play as a learning strategy that connects reading with performance. Students were divided into groups and were assigned different roles based on selected stories, dramas, or literary scenes. Each group prepared short enactments by interpreting the characters, emotions, dialogues, and situations from the text.

Students performed their roles with confidence, expressing the emotions and messages of the chosen scenes effectively. The performances reflected creativity, teamwork, voice modulation, and understanding of character development. The audience watched with interest, appreciating how literary content was brought to life through action and dialogue.

Faculty coordinators guided the students and offered constructive feedback on expression, body language, clarity of speech, and interpretation of characters. The activity helped students improve their public speaking skills, self-confidence, and ability to analyse texts deeply.

The interactive nature of the role play created an engaging and joyful learning environment. Students shared that the activity helped them better understand the themes and values presented in the stories and also strengthened their teamwork and communication skills.

The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to continue learning literature through creative and participatory methods. The Role Play activity was a successful and meaningful initiative, reflecting the Reading Club’s commitment to promoting active learning, literary appreciation, and expressive skills among students.
