The Eco Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe organized a unique and meaningful programme titled “Valentines for Earth” on 14th February 2025 at 10:40 AM. The initiative aimed to encourage students to express love and care for the planet by adopting eco-friendly habits and participating in sustainability-focused activities.

The programme began with a welcome address, followed by a brief introduction explaining the concept behind “Valentines for Earth.” Instead of limiting the day’s celebration to human relationships, the event emphasized extending love to nature, which sustains all forms of life.

1. Awareness Session

Faculty coordinators highlighted the importance of environmental protection and discussed ways individuals can show their love for Earth, such as reducing waste, planting trees, conserving water, and choosing sustainable alternatives in daily life.

2. Eco-Pledge Activity

Students took a pledge to:

  • Reduce plastic usage

  • Conserve water and energy

  • Protect trees and green spaces

  • Promote recycling and sustainable practices

  • Actively participate in environmental initiatives

3. Creative Expression: “Love Letters to Earth”

Participants wrote short notes, poems, or messages dedicated to the Earth, expressing gratitude for its resources and committing to protect the environment. These messages were displayed on a “Valentines for Earth” board on the campus.

4. Plant Care Activity

Students engaged in nurturing plants by watering saplings, removing weeds, and cleaning garden areas, symbolizing care and responsibility toward the Earth.

5. Eco-Message Cards

The club distributed eco-message cards encouraging students to adopt small but impactful habits in their everyday lives.

The programme fostered creativity, reflection, and a sense of environmental responsibility among students. It served as a reminder that love for the Earth must be demonstrated through consistent and meaningful actions.

The event concluded with a message from the coordinators encouraging everyone to celebrate the Earth not just on this day, but every day through mindful and sustainable living.

The “Valentines for Earth” programme was a thoughtful, engaging, and impactful initiative, showcasing the Eco Club’s commitment to nurturing eco-conscious attitudes and inspiring students to care for the planet.
