The students of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education actively organized and participated in the Ozone Day Celebration held on 17th September 2025 within the college campus. This event was conducted to raise awareness about the importance of the ozone layer and the urgent need to protect it from depletion.
The programme began at 9:38 AM, as captured in the image, with a student-led presentation on the history and significance of World Ozone Day, which is observed globally on September 16 each year. The theme and objectives of the day were explained through a digital presentation that was displayed prominently on screen.
Two students anchored the session from the stage while another addressed the audience from the podium, emphasizing the role of individuals and communities in reducing ozone-depleting substances. The session covered crucial topics like:
-
The formation and function of the ozone layer
-
Causes and consequences of ozone depletion
-
The Montreal Protocol and international efforts
-
Eco-friendly practices to protect the environment
The visuals used during the session were engaging and scientifically informative, helping participants understand the science behind the ozone layer in a simplified manner.
The faculty appreciated the students’ effort in organizing an event that blends environmental science with civic awareness. The event concluded with a collective pledge by the students to adopt sustainable habits and spread environmental awareness in their communities.
The Ozone Day Celebration was a well-organized and impactful event that successfully educated and inspired the college community about the importance of environmental protection.
