WORLD PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION DAY & WORLD SCIENCE DAY FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT


 
On Behalf of, World public transport day as well a World science day of peace and development day which is celebrated on November 10 Sunday, Students of Mahe Co-operative college of teacher Education ,English Department conducted programs on November 11th World Public Transport Day is celebrated on November 10th to promote the use of sustainable public transport. It is a day to raise awareness of the benefits of public transport, such as reducing traffic congestion, air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions . The theme for World Public Transport Day 2024 is “Connecting Communities, Reducing Emissions”. This theme highlights the critical role of public transport in fostering social connections while actively reducing the environmental impact of private vehicles. 





On Nov 11th Ms. Amaya K V from English department of MCCTE presented a speech on the importance of the public transport their uses demerits and so on. After the completion of the speech, she asked questions on the same to various students of each department ensuring that each of the students understood the significance and even  asked them to illustrate the same with an example .




World Science Day for Peace and Development





it was celebrated on November 10th highlights the significant role of science in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues. It also underlines the importance and relevance of science in our daily lives. By linking science more closely with society, World Science Day for Peace and Development aims to ensure that citizens are kept informed of developments in science. It also underscores the role scientists play in broadening our understanding of the remarkable, fragile planet we call home and in making our societies more sustainable. The Day offers the
opportunity to mobilize all actors around the topic of science for peace and development – from government officials to the media to school pupils. UNESCO strongly encourages all to join in celebrating World Science Day
for Peace and Development by organizing your own event or activity on the day. The theme for World Science Day for Peace and Development in 2024 is “Why Science Matters – Engaging Minds and Empowering Futures”.




As part of this day Ms. Sneha Anil from English department of MCCTE presented a speech and conducted a quiz as well on the same on November 11th ensuring that each of the students are made aware of the day .
