The Music Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe observed Janaki Amma Memorial Day on 15th November 2024 at 10:00 AM to honor the legacy and contributions of the renowned Carnatic musician, Smt. Janaki Amma. The programme aimed to inspire students by celebrating her dedication to classical music and her influence in nurturing musical culture.
The event began with a brief introduction highlighting Janaki Amma’s life, achievements, and her significant role in promoting traditional music. Students were introduced to her contributions as a performer, teacher, and cultural icon who enriched the classical music landscape with her melodious renditions and commitment to preserving musical purity.
As part of the observance, students presented devotional and classical compositions associated with Janaki Amma’s repertoire.
