DIGITAL POSTER MAKING COMPETITION ON DOWRY PROHIBITION

The Grievance Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Digital Poster Making Competition on the theme Dowry Prohibition on 26th November 2024 at 10:58 AM. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the unethical and unlawful practice of dowry, promote gender equality, and encourage students to take a stand against social injustices.
The event began with a brief introduction explaining the significance of the Dowry Prohibition Act and the ongoing challenges related to dowry practices in society. Students were encouraged to express their views creatively through digital art, highlighting the negative impact of dowry on women, families, and society at large.
Participants designed powerful and meaningful posters using digital tools, incorporating strong messages, illustrations, and slogans that emphasized themes such as women’s rights, social justice, equality, and the need to eliminate dowry-related violence. The posters reflected creativity, clarity of thought, and a deep understanding of the social issue.
Faculty members viewed the submissions and appreciated the students for their thoughtful work. The posters were evaluated based on creativity, relevance to the theme, message effectiveness, and overall presentation. The activity not only enhanced students’ digital skills but also strengthened their social awareness and sense of responsibility.
The competition helped initiate important conversations among students about the need to challenge harmful traditions and advocate for a more just society. It empowered students to use digital media as a tool for social change and awareness.
The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to continue engaging with social issues and contribute positively to society.
