ENGLISH QUIZ COMPETITION

The English Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an English Quiz Competition on 28 November 2024 at 11:30 AM with the aim of enhancing students’ language proficiency, general awareness of English literature, and critical thinking skills. The programme encouraged healthy competition and provided an engaging platform for students to test their knowledge of English.

The event commenced with a welcome address by the English Club coordinator, who highlighted the importance of such activities in strengthening vocabulary, grammar, and overall linguistic competence. Participants were grouped into teams and briefed about the rules and structure of the quiz.

The quiz consisted of multiple rounds, including:

• Vocabulary Round

• Grammar & Usage Round

• Literature Round (authors, works, genres)

• Audio/Visual Round

• Rapid Fire Round

Each round tested different aspects of language learning and literary understanding. Students participated enthusiastically, displaying strong preparation and competitive spirit. The quiz master ensured smooth conduct of the event, while the audience actively engaged by cheering for their favourite teams.

After an exciting final round, the top-performing team was declared the winner. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to both winners and participants for their commendable effort and involvement.

The programme concluded with remarks by faculty members, who appreciated the English Club for organising an informative and intellectually enriching event. Students shared that the quiz helped improve their language skills, broaden their literary knowledge, and boost their confidence.

Overall, the English Quiz Competition was a successful, stimulating, and educational event that effectively promoted linguistic excellence among the students.
