The De-Addiction Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Red Alert Programme on 3rd April 2025 at 10:00 AM with the objective of creating strong awareness about the alarming rise of drug abuse and emphasizing the urgent need for collective preventive action.
The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction explaining the significance of the “Red Alert” theme—symbolizing caution, awareness, and immediate action against drug-related issues affecting youth and society.
The session included:

Awareness Talk: A resource person explained the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse. Students were informed about high-risk situations and early signs of addiction.

Presentation on Red Alert Indicators: Visual materials highlighted warning signs of drug dependency, methods of early detection, and strategies for intervention.

Interactive Discussion: Students discussed real-life scenarios, peer pressure challenges, and ways to support friends or classmates who may be struggling.

Alert Pledge Activity: Participants took a pledge to be vigilant, responsible, and proactive in preventing drug misuse within their communities.
The programme emphasized key preventive measures such as:

Students participated enthusiastically, showing a strong commitment to being ambassadors of a drug-free environment. The coordinators appreciated the engagement and highlighted the vital role of youth in combating drug abuse.
The event concluded with a message encouraging students to remain alert, make responsible choices, and extend support to those in need of guidance and intervention.
The Red Alert Programme was an impactful and meaningful initiative, reinforcing the De-Addiction Club’s mission to educate, empower, and protect students from the dangers of drug abuse.
