The Eco Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe celebrated Earth Day on 22nd April 2025 at 10:00 AM with the objective of fostering environmental awareness, promoting sustainable habits, and encouraging students to take active responsibility in protecting the planet.
The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction on the global significance of Earth Day. Students were informed about the urgent environmental challenges the world faces today, such as global warming, pollution, deforestation, and biodiversity loss, and the need for collective action.
1. Awareness Session
A resource person delivered an enlightening talk on:

Importance of protecting natural resources

Role of youth in environmental conservation

Sustainable living practices for everyday life

Impact of human activities on the planet
The session inspired students to evaluate their lifestyle choices and adopt eco-friendly practices.
2. Campus Clean-Up Drive
Students actively participated in cleaning the campus premises by:

Picking up litter

Segregating waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable

Cleaning garden areas and pathways

Promoting a clean and green environment
3. Poster and Slogan Presentation
Participants designed posters and slogans promoting conservation messages such as:

“Restore Our Earth”

“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”

“A Greener Future Starts Today”

“Save Earth, Save Life”
These creative displays helped spread awareness throughout the campus.
4. Plant Care Activity
Students engaged in nurturing existing plants by watering saplings, removing weeds, and supporting garden maintenance, emphasizing the importance of caring for nature.
5. Earth Day Pledge
All participants took a pledge to protect the environment by reducing waste, conserving water and energy, planting trees, and inspiring others to follow sustainable practices.
The programme concluded with appreciation for the students’ active involvement and a reminder that Earth Day should inspire daily commitment rather than being a one-day observance.
The Earth Day Celebration was a meaningful and impactful initiative, reflecting the Eco Club’s dedication to building environmental responsibility, awareness, and sustainability among students.
