The De-Addiction Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Elocution Competition on 11th April 2025 at 12:45 PM as part of its ongoing initiatives to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote healthy lifestyle choices among students.

The programme began with a welcome address and a brief introduction highlighting the importance of developing strong communication skills to effectively spread social awareness messages. Students were encouraged to express their views confidently on topics related to drug abuse prevention and responsible decision-making.

Participants delivered speeches on themes such as:

  • Impact of drug abuse on youth and society

  • Role of family and education in preventing addiction

  • Importance of mental health in staying drug-free

  • Building a supportive community for individuals battling addiction

  • Choosing healthy habits and positive alternatives

Each speaker showcased clarity of thought, confidence, and effective delivery. The competition provided a valuable platform for students to enhance their public speaking skills while reflecting deeply on social issues related to addiction.

The judging panel evaluated participants based on content, expression, voice modulation, relevance to the topic, and overall impact. The programme concluded with the announcement of winners and appreciation for all participants.

Students expressed that the competition helped them better understand the seriousness of drug abuse and strengthened their commitment to advocating for a drug-free lifestyle.

The Elocution Competition was a successful and meaningful event, reinforcing the De-Addiction Club’s mission to create awareness, build communication skills, and promote a responsible and healthy campus environment.
